This is the jpeg from persona. It looks over the net to show characteristics about a persons name.Creative and Social uses of the net.
In looking at a number of websites i found a number of interesting articles. I found that their were large number of social networking sites. Facebook had recently over taken myspace as the most popular social networking site. Twitter has also increased its share.
The generator blog was another that i found interesting. It has a number of software elements that have been made for the enjoyment of users.
http://generatorblog.blogspot.com/
The websites that included net art were also interesting because they contained a number of thought provoking articles.
I chose the 1st short film which was the 2002 trop fest winner. I chose this because of the use of film techniques which make this a successful and engaging work. It uses successful cutaways between different people. Comedy is one of the main elements of this film that make it effective. The variety of people filmed adds interest.
I chose this second short film because it is entertaining and shows a particular film technique of "stop motion". This film also relates to the idea of convergent technology which includes phones and cameras. These are objects that are ever changing with new designs and features which can be integrated into one single technology eg. Mobile phone with mp3 player and camera.
This third video is a short film which shows uses a number of aspects needed in filming. These include camera angles, camera shots and editing effects. This is relevant because this content is taught in the lectures of this course.
I chose this short film about convergent technology because i find it interesting and it also relates to thje content taught in the lectures and tutorials. I then think this is an effective video because it is related to the course

week two lecture A Short History of Computing and the Internet

This post will summarize the information from week twos lecture.
Lecture 2 - A Short History of Computing and the Internet
The start of computers began by work done by Charles Baggage who created an mechanical computer. Where the first work began was from Alan Turing who created a working electronic computer which helped break the secret German " enigma codes" used in world war two. The first comerical use of computers was be IBM in the 1950s. These were giant computers which were expensive and would be seen as very slow compared to todays technology.
At Xerox PARC the ideas for the first personal computers were created. Soon after this the company apple was formed and had great success in perosnal computers. Another company mircrosoft was formed by bill gates which would provide the software for IBM comoputers. At first they had a small share of the market but this increased and they overtook apples share.
The internet
The internet is an important part of peoples lives in the current world. The internet is a golbal network system that connects a wide range of computers with information. The creation of the world wide web and web explorers allowed the majority of the population acess to the resouses and the ability to create their own web sites for for others to view. Along with this a number of applications including email and file transfer protocol were important in increasing the webs popularity. In more modern times instant messagners, search engines and social network sites have become important

This is my next post which will include more information on convergent technology and a range of other important facets relating to technology.
